Adventure Days, Dirt, & Chocolate Cake

The Boy and I started a new activity this week. I want to start to do “adventure” days. When we lived in back East, we would go with our Grandpa and Grandma and S. D.. We would travel all over the countryside and saw, did, and met wonderful different things. This week we went to the zoo. The Boy was more interested in pushing his stroller than looking at the animals. We’ll keep you up-to-date on our next adventure.

L4 is finishing one project at work and moving to another project. He is enjoying the challenge and the opportunities that it provides. He should start a new project this coming week.

L4 is also working very hard at home physically. He built a 20’ by 25’ sand box area, moved 7 tons of dirt for our “no-bend-over” gardens and dug 5 holes for our fruit trees. He was a very busy beaver this last week. He has remembered that he is “driving a desk” instead of working physically because he has been very sore over the course of the week.

We have also consumed 3 chocolate cakes this week. It is delicious, and we shared some with neighbors so you don’t think we are gluttons. Here is the recipe. We put a fresh strawberries in the middle. Wow!

Chocolate Cake
2 cup flour
2 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cup oil
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup boiling water
Mix dry ingredients. Add wet ingredients except boiling water. Beat for 2 minutes
on medium speed. Stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin. Bake at 350
for 30-35 minutes in 2 (9) inch or 3 (8) inch pans. Cool for 10 minutes in pans.
Place on wire rack to cook completely. Frost.
