3/4 Gone and Allergy Attack

We had a low key week. Boys went to school. Sweetheart went to work. I took care of our house and volunteered at the school one more day than normal for book fair.

In foster care class, we learned about attachment and some of the basics about attachment for children who are displaced.

Sweetheart went to an allergist a few years ago and had his back pricked to see what he was allergic to in Arizona. If you have a reaction that is bigger than 3 in circumference you have an allergy to that thing. I'm not sure if the measure is millimeters or centimeters. When he was test for mesquite trees, he had a reaction of a 22.

On Saturday, we trimmed the big mesquite tree in our backyard. Sweetheart couldn't help because of his allergy. He did try to help by covering the load we were taking to the dump but ended up wheezing and needing to take some stronger allergy medicine. We are grateful for the medicine to help him.

The job was done by the boys, a teenage neighbor, and myself. We took 2 weekends, 2 trips to the dump, and some acrobatics in the tree. When I say trimmed, I mean cut off about 3/4 of the tree.
The tree has never really been pruned except to take a branch away from the house and another from the trampoline. As I was in the tree, I thought of my Uncle David and thought I could have used his pole chainsaw.
Be Well.

May The Force Be With You

Because Hurricane's birthday is in the summer, we made arrangements with his teacher to bring in treats for his birthday.
Hurricane changed his mind on what he wanted for treats a couple times. He decided on Eegees. We got the big size and shared with his brother's class too.
The boys went to the dentist. I asked if we needed to be prepared for orthodontics. The dentist took an x-ray of Hurricane's mouth.
Bottom Teeth
We learned that his teeth are really over crowded on the bottom, and he has an extra front tooth.
Top Teeth
A referral was given to us to start the process.

The boys finished their robotics club this past week.
They had their last club meeting.
Their coach, Mary, played games and presented awards.
Each team was awarded an award. The trophies will sit in the office at school.
Our friends' daughter was baptized. Hurricane was asked with his friend, Lincoln, to lead the music. They were very darling together and didn't keep the beat very well. The pianist was wonderful and kept the music going. After the baptism, we went to a wedding for a young man that use to work for us. We were happy to celebrate with them. On May 4th, we decided to have fun with the Star Wars day. We started May the Fourth Be with You with Sith Speeder Sunrise (oatmeal with a slice of cantaloupe and a Sith Lego mini figure).
At swim team we took Otter Pops and gave them to the team as light sabers. Supper was fun as well. Han-burgers, Obi-Wan Kabob-ies, Darth Vadar taters, and a Carbonited Han.
We had a lot of fun with the food.

The boys got new swim towels - a 4 eyed monster towel
and a lion towel.
They were happy. The towels are so I can see the boys across the pool when we are in a crowd.
Foster care classes are going forward.

This summer we are going as a family to Havasupai. We hiked this past weekend. On the hike, Underfoot brought a frisbee. We practiced tossing it to each other. After one toss, Hurricane got hit in the face.
We had enough 1st Aid items to help with his bloody lip but realized we need to replenish the stuff in the 1st Aid kits.
Be Well.
